Invasive Acacia species — black, silver and green wattle — deplete South Africa's water table and smother its catchments while reducing biodiversity. By harvesting these trees and processing them into multiple products, GoChar redirects that carbon toward vital applications in water purification, living environments, soil restoration and animal health.
What we make
Biochar is not a generic product. Feedstock, pyrolysis temperature and residence time all change how it behaves — so we make it differently depending on the job it has to do.
WATER
Filter sticks, kettle pouches and water tank cartridges reduce chlorine, odour and organic impurities in water you already drink. Boil the sticks for first use, cool, then drop them into your containers. To cleanse them of adsorbed material, boil every four weeks and reuse.

Breathable pouches that adsorb odours and moisture in cupboards, cars, bathrooms, pianos, tool boxes, guitars, 3D printers, shoes and boots — anything that needs less humidity. The activated carbon also adsorbs ethylene from maturing fruit, extending shelf life. No electricity, no water tray to empty, no fragrance masking the smell.

Wattle biochar as a feed additive binds toxins, reduces diarrhoea and enhances nutrient absorption, boosting livestock health. Black wattle tannins act as an anti-microbial and protein binder, reducing parasite load, decreasing methane emissions and improving feed conversion. In waste management and bedding, biochar reduces ammonia emissions, eliminates odours and enriches manure.

Whether liquid or gas, activated biochar has the uncanny ability to bind and retain toxins, organic compounds, odours and metals within its structure.
Pyrolysis drives everything volatile out of the wood and leaves behind a rigid carbon skeleton riddled with pores. That structure gives a single cubic inch of activated biochar an internal surface area measured in hundreds of square metres.
Contaminants — chlorine, odour compounds, organic impurities — are attracted to that surface and held there through cation exchange. It is the same principle behind the carbon block in an expensive under-counter filter, in a form you can boil, reuse, and eventually return to the soil.
Straight answers
Plenty of natural filtration products are sold on claims they cannot support. This is important for users to know up front, and bear in mind.
If you need water made microbiologically safe, you need disinfection — boiling, chlorination or a certified purifier. PURIFi is a taste, odour and impurity product.
As the old saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Try it for yourself — as a water filter, air enhancer, dehumidifier or soil amendment. You will taste the difference in municipal water with the chlorine reduced, notice the drop in odour, or see the increase in plant vigour.
Beyond the shelf
The retail range is the visible end of the business. The rest of it is kilns, feedstock logistics and catchment work — biomass valorisation for farms, forestry operations, municipalities and corporates with an ESG mandate and a real problem to solve.
We size the kiln, model the economics before anyone commits capital, and build the offtake path so the char has somewhere to go.
